Starting next Friday, the Star Trek screenings are becoming the
SUPER MEGA HAPPY SCIFI SCREENINGS!
As before, this will be on Fridays at 7pm, in K4U.12 at the Strand campus. Ideas for stuff to watch so far include:
Doctor Who, both new and old.
Firefly/Serenity
Farscape
Terminator/ Sarah Connor Chronicles
MANY films.
Any ideas guys?

I forgot, Red Dwarf was on the list. Will look into Space Vets.

Ooh! Top Idea!
I'd be very up for Torchwood! Season 1 would be my preference.
And Firefly.

Moon. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON.
Except, actually, I'm not that bothered about seeing it myself cos I've seen it so many times already. But still, for the benefit of everyone else...
Also, let's say Dark City. Good film, worthy of note for geeks everywhere and one I'd very much like to see again.

Starship Troopers (NPH where the 'N' stands for Nazi!)
District 9 was v. v. good.

The Terminator series will almost certainly be there. Definitely Terminator 2 as well, but definitely not Rise of the Machines. I haven't seen the new one, though, so up for that!

Distinct 9 was v.v. good. Surrogates not so much despite cool concept, we can ignore that one. New Terminator I was on too much valium on that particular long haul flight to remember particularly well but I remember it being cool.
Day of the Triffids. I have the new one with Eddie Izzard and the classic 80s one that sticks to the book if anyone's interested. I will continue to post ideas as they come to me

Classic Scifi is very much on the cards. Particularly It Came From Outer Space, The Day The Earth Stood Still and the original War of the Worlds. Maybe Plan 9 From Outer Space, alongside a drinking game?

Yes I personally would prefer to watch some really classic stuff like The Day the Earth Stood Still, only because I've seen most recent sci-fi. Also if anyone knows if there's any good Asian sci-fi that we could watch?
Great idea Jamie, look forward to it!

Also some Tarkovsky-the original Solaris, Stalker and anything else good by him in that vein.

Ryan definitely had some recommended Asian sci-fi, like [i:9a5jsmku]I'm a Cyborg but that's ok[/i:9a5jsmku]!

Hmmm classics ... Planet of the Apes (the one where the apes take over). Dr Strangelove. Soylent Green. The Time Machine. Mad Max. The Omega Man. The Fly. 1984. ummm I need to look at my dvd rack ...
I also feel for puppet based fun ie. Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray et al.

Dr. Strangelove isn't sci-fi! Awesome film though

Maybe The Running Man? I haven't seen it, kinda want to, though I've no idea if it's any good.
Pitch Black would be kinda nice. Maybe Chronicles too.
Also, I think even Rise of the Machines would probably be better than Terminator Salvation.

Ahahahahaha.
But actually, I didn't like I'm a Cyborg that much at all...
Wong Kar Wai's '2046' has quite a lot of sci fi in it, and is very beautiful and very trippy.
